Infrared radiation reflection curve
We are among the only textile organizations in the Americas to conduct infrared radiation testing on our fabrics. This consists of measuring the reflection curve of military clothing in comparison to its environment in order to ensure flawless camouflage. Infrared reflection is measured with the help of a practically unique specialized device we own.
Abrasion, breakage and tear resistance
Textiles used in military clothing must pass National Defence durability tests. Samples are stretched until they break and are exposed to extreme mechanical abrasion. Notched fabrics are also tested in our laboratory: we let weights fall on taut material specimens and measure the force required to continue the tear in the weaving.
Breathability
Armed Forces clothing has to be breathable for troop comfort and safety. Therefore, in addition to meeting the strict National Defence standards, the fabrics must let the skin breathe. Our wearing process and our technical meta-aramid, para-aramid and flame-retardant Lenzing™ FR viscose composition helps our fabrics meet all requirements.
Wear resistance and dimensional stability
Military clothing made from our textiles are extremely durable. They are subjected to several washing and drying cycles in a controlled environment to assess their dimensional stability. The final colour intensity of the fabric is measured by a colour scale rating from 1 to 5.
