Textiles Monterey is a major provider of Hydro-Québec's fabric for linesmen and lineswomen's protective suits. The fabric is made from abrasion-resistant KERMEL X-Flash® fibre.

Level 2 resistance to electric arcs

Fabric heat transfer is tested in our certified independent laboratory in accordance with the NFPA 70E and ASTM 1506 standards. The test consists of exposing a fabric sample to thermal energy coming from an electric arc and analyzing the critical point where injuries would occur. The clothing must absorb the maximum quantity of energy before it reaches the worker's skin, which is successfully accomplished with our fabrics.

Reflective properties

High-risk sector workers like linesmen and lineswomen need to remain visible for their safety. Our textiles used in fabricating high-visibility gear tape comply with the Canadian CSA Z96 and American ANSI/ISEA 107 standards. As with all our protective fabrics, their retro-reflective properties and overall strength are tested in our laboratory.

Flame retardant and flash fire protection

Our electric arc protective clothing is also fireproof. It goes through fire resistance tests in accordance with the NFPA 2112 standard such as exposure to radiant heat and direct flame. Our protective textiles surpass industry regulation minimum requirements.
